Accreditation Update

updated 6-17-15

Kettering College sought comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College hosted a visit September 19-21, 2012, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Kettering College has been fully accredited by the Commission since 1974. The team reviewed the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation.

On October 24 the Commission sent a “Systems Appraisal Feedback Report” on the materials submitted in the “Systems Portfolio.” The report said the evidence shows that Kettering College “complies with each of the Five Criteria for Accreditation and each of their Core Components.”

At its meeting on December 19, 2012, the Institutional Actions Council concurred with the evaluation findings following the AQIP Quality Check-up Visit in September and voted to continue the accreditation of Kettering College with the next reaffirmation of accreditation in 2019-20.

In early 2013 Kettering College assessed the various accreditation approaches available through the Higher Learning Commission and made the decision to switch to Open Pathway. Our request was approved by HLC in early March, 2013.

In September, 2014, the Assurance Review Team convened for the first time and began preparation of the Assurance Review. Work on this document has proceeded throughout the 2014-2015 academic year.
