Flu Vaccinations

Kettering Health Network strives to provide the safest environment for our patients, visitors, employees and affiliates. Influenza vaccine is considered the single most important influenza control measure. Kettering College requires all students in clinical programs be vaccinated against seasonal influenza, unless medically contraindicated.

For current information regarding the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for influenza vaccination: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/

Anyone not vaccinated with seasonal trivalent influenza vaccine as a result of an approved medical exemption will be required to wear a mask in patient care areas during the influenza season.

The following are considered contraindications to influenza vaccination:

  • Persons who have a severe allergic reaction to egg protein
  • Persons who have had a prior severe allergic reaction to Influenza Vaccine, regardless of the component suspected to be responsible for the reaction.
  • History of Guillain Barré Syndrome

Those with a medical exemption can click here to download the appropriate exemption form.

All students in clinical programs must provide proof of vaccination to their academic departments no later than Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. If you have questions, contact the college health advisor, Stephanie Butkus, at Stephanie.Butkus@kc.edu or via phone at (937) 395-8601 ext. 54910.
