CONDITIONAL APPROVAL GRANTED FROM THE OHIO BOARD OF NURSING

The pre-licensure BSN degree at Kettering College is designed to prepare individuals for professional registered nursing practice. New cohorts enroll each fall; students begin by taking a prerequisite year of general education courses that provides a solid foundation to begin nursing courses in year two of the program.

LPN-to-BSN applicants who meet the degree admission requirements and complete NRSA 312, along with all prerequisite courses, with a C or better, will be awarded credit for:

  • BIOL 119
  • PSY 138
  • KETC 101
  • NRSB 301
  • NBSB 311
  • NRSB 312

After completing at least 30 hours of prerequisite courses, students apply for acceptance into nursing by May 15 of their first year. Students enroll fulltime in the program and attend courses year round—fall, winter, and summer semesters—over a period of three academic years, completing the degree in July.  Graduates are qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in the states of their choice.

Clinical experiences begin in year two and occur in a variety of health care settings within the community. As an integral part of the Kettering Medical Center and the Kettering Health Network, a rich array of clinical experiences occur within the hospitals of the Kettering Health Network, as well in excellent health care facilities within the community.

THE CAREER

Registered nurses (RNs) care for and educate individuals, families, communities and populations about various aspects of health care to promote optimum wellness. In partnership with the patient and the interdisciplinary health care team, nurses are highly educated individuals who assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice. Nurses provide physiological, psychological, sociocultural, developmental, and spiritual support to those entrusted to their care.
